Bishkek, April 14, 2023. / Kabar/. Hotels and restaurants in Hungary will be supplied with mutton from Kyrgyzstan.
Representatives of the Hungarian company Matusz - Vad Zrt, the domestic company Toro and the National Investment Agency announced about that today at a press conference at the Kabar Agency.
The parties signed a supply agreement today. At the first stage, 20 tons of meat will be exported from Kyrgyzstan weekly, in the future it is planned to increase the volume to 40 tons per week. Today, the parties are awaiting permission from Brussels.
“We believe that the mutton of Kyrgyz farmers is of better quality compared to New Zealand. The natural resources of your country and the high requirements for halal standards are proof of this,” director of the Hungarian company, Patrick Matus said.
He added that Matusz - Vad Zrt has more than 2.5 thousand partners throughout Europe, including well-known chains of restaurants, hotels, catering services and supermarkets.
“At the first stage, we plan to supply Kyrgyz meat to the hotel and restaurant sector, and later to supermarkets for a wide range of consumers. We have been operating on the market since 1994 and over 30 years have earned the trust of our partners throughout Europe. They expect new products from Kyrgyzstan from us,” added Patrick Matus.
General Director of Toro LLC Emil Mambetkulov emphasized that today the number of Muslim population in Europe is 44 million and the demand for halal products is very high.
“We brought beef and lamb to the business forum in Hungary, which was held in February as part of the President's visit. The Hungarians then said that they had heard about the quality of our meat and had long wanted to try it. They liked it, and now, after 1.5 months, they flew to us to conclude a contract, ”Mambetkulov shared.
He pointed out that only steaks are prepared for export to Hungary. Therefore, the domestic company will buy livestock in large quantities from local farmers, and then prepare it for shipment in accordance with halal standards and the requirements of the Eurozone.
In addition to lamb, according to the head of the export department of the National Investment Agency Tilek Zhumaliev, the Hungarian company is interested in deliveries of rainbow trout from Kyrgyzstan.
“We were invited to visit trout farms in Jalal-Abad, Issyk-Kul and Chui regions. We plan to inspect the joint ventures on the ground and hold negotiations there on possible supplies of trout to Europe. Rainbow trout is grown in clean waters with a high mineral content and is in great demand in the countries of the EAEU and the Persian Gulf,” Zhumaliev said.
