Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2020. /Kabar/. The Moscow Youth Theatre staged a play based on The Place of the Skull novel by Chyngyz Aitmatov. Founder and director of the Ayan Theater in Moscow Ainash Kozubayeva wrote on her Facebook page.
According to her, Vasiliy Spesivtsev acted as the director. The premiere took place yesterday, Sept. 23, and was timed to the celebration of Kyrgyz Language Day.
The performance was held in the Kyrgyz and Russian languages.
"The premiere was a success. We thank all the spectators for their support," wrote Kozubayeva.
The State Language Day is celebrated in the country annually on Sept. 23 in honor of the adoption of the Law “On the State Language of the Kyrgyz SSR” by the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR in 1989.
This year Kyrgyzstan celebrates 31st anniversary of the state language.
The Place of the Skull, or Plakha in the original, is a novel by Soviet writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, first published in 1986 in the Novy Mir (New World) magazine.
The novel tells about the fates of two people - Avdiy Callistratov and Boston Urkunchiev, whose fates are associated with the image of the wolf Akbara, the binding thread of the book.
