Kyrgyz MFA comments on situation around Taiwan

Bishkek, Aug. 4, 2022. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan commented to Kabar News Agency on the situation around Taiwan.

On Aug. 2-3, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Pelosi paid a visit to Taiwan. This visit exacerbated the situation in the Taiwan Strait.

Kabar News Agency asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to voice Kyrgyzstan's position on the Taiwan issue in general.

The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry is closely following the developments around Taiwan and hopes for a rapid reduction of tension and achievement of sustainable peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait in order to prevent escalation of the situation.

"The Kyrgyz Republic reaffirms its unchanged position on the Taiwan issue and support for the One China policy outlined in all fundamental Kyrgyz-Chinese documents," the Foreign Ministry noted.
