Kyrgyz MFA instructed to keep in touch with Kyrgyzstanis in China and provide necessary assistance

Bishkek, Jan.31, 2020. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has been instructed to be in constant contact with Kyrgyzstanis in China and to provide the necessary assistance, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service said.

Deputy Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova held on Thursday the meeting of the Republican Extraordinary Anti-Epidemic and Anti-Epizootic Commission under the Government.

During the meeting it was noted that to date there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Kyrgyzstan, and there is no reason to panic, the epidemiological situation is stable. The country has the necessary stock of individual protection means and antiviral drugs.

Heads of the Health and Foreign Affairs Ministries, the State Border Service and the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Security also provided information on measures taken.

In the course of the meeting, it became known that China temporarily banned the export of medical disposable masks. Russia and Kazakhstan have temporarily banned the export of these products abroad. To Kyrgyzstan such products were usually supplied from these countries. In this regard, Kyrgyzstan also has a ban on the export of medical masks.

The meeting participants said the country's pharmacies have disposable masks, antiviral drugs and disinfectants in sufficient quantities.

The Health Ministry plans to import additional personal protective equipment from Turkey, Korea and India in the near future.

By entrusting to continue monitoring the epidemiological situation in the country, Omurbekova pointed out to ensure clear implementation of all preventive measures.

The deputy PM noted the issue is under control of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

"The head of state gave a number of specific instructions to prevent the virus from entering the country and implement preventive measures," she recalled.

The Government said the Foreign Ministry has been instructed to keep in touch with Kyrgyz citizens in China and provide all necessary assistance to protect their health and rights.
