Bishkek, Nov. 14, 2018. /Kabar/. The Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Dzhamankulov took part in the Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting of Representatives of the countries participating in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) international initiative in the city of Seoul (South Korea) on 5-6 November.
During the meeting, Marat Dzhamankulov made a presentation on the topic “Kyrgyzstan – the First Country in the Region to Join the OGP and the First National Action Plan in the Framework of its Commitments. Participation of Civil Society in the Rulemaking Process. ”
The report reflected the issues of the creation of the National Open Government Forum, the development and approval of the National Action Plan for the construction of the Open Government in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2020, as well as modernization of the procedure for public discussion of draft laws.
During the event, the participants shared their experiences, presented examples of open government in various fields, including education, parliament and social welfare, and also discussed measures for cooperation in this direction.
In addition, Marat Dzhamankulov had a meeting with representative of the OGP Secretariat Paul Maassen, during which issues related to the implementation of the National Action Plan for the construction of the Open Government in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2020 were discussed.
Kyrgyzstan joined the Open Government Partnership (OGP) international initiative in 2017. The Open Government Partnership is an international platform with more than 70 national governments, 15 subnational entities, seven multilateral bodies and hundreds of civil society organizations. The OGP is a unique multifaceted initiative aimed at ensuring specific government commitments to increase transparency, increase civic participation, combat corruption, and use new technologies to make governments more open, effective, and accountable to citizens.
