Kyrgyz Ministry of Health, JICA identify priority areas of cooperation

Bishkek, Jan. 16, 2019. /Kabar/. A meeting between Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbaev and Deputy Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the Kyrgyz Republic Tanaka Shinya was held at the Ministry of Health.

The press services of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that consultants from Japan Keiko Nagai and Yosuke Umemiya, who arrived with the JICA mission, also took part in the meeting.

This meeting was held as part of the discussion of the cooperation between the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and JICA for the next 5-10 years. At the meeting, it was noted that the main focus for cooperation would be prevention of non-communicable diseases, as well as improving the management hospital management and equipping hospitals with medical equipment.

The JICA mission will last for a month, during which the consultants, together with the members of the working group of the Ministry of Health, will visit the National Centers, will organize trips to the regions of the country to become familiar with the work of medical organizations of all levels. At the end of the mission, a final plan of bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare will be determined.

“I express my deep gratitude to the government of Japan and JICA for expressing a desire to help the health sector of Kyrgyzstan. There is a lack of high-tech medical equipment in our public hospitals, and the hospital management system also needs to be improved. And I am glad that you want to help us in this particular direction. In addition, I would like to note that within the framework of the New Strategy for Health Development until 2030, one of the priority areas is the prevention of diseases, the development of primary health care; and your proposal to help reduce non-communicable diseases is timely. I hope that our cooperation in the field of healthcare will be useful and mutually beneficial. And the Japanese advanced achievements will be introduced in the health care organizations of the republic,” Cholponbaev told.
