Bishkek, Nov. 27, 2018 / Kabar /. Central Asian countries need to be united in the fight against extremism, member of the Kyrgyz Parliament Kanybek Imanaliev told in Bishkek at a meeting with the UN evaluation mission led by the UNDP Global Program Manager and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Violent Extremism Alexander Avanesov.
MP Imanaliev said that there should be interaction between the countries of the region.
He asked members of the UN mission to pay special attention to the needs of the border areas of the republic.
MP Iskhak Pirmatov thanked the members of the mission for accepting an invitation of the Kyrgyz side.
“We appreciate the UN support for preventive measures, which we are taking together with other Central Asian countries,” said Pirmatov.
Avanesov noted that the UN is aware of the changes in Kyrgyzstan about elections held on the basis of biometric data. The current UN mission should identify the specific needs of Kyrgyzstan to prevent extremism and counter this phenomenon, combat terrorism, and also to consider topical issues of cooperation between the UN and the Kyrgyz Republic in various fields.
