Kyrgyz MPs hear government’s report on measures taken to combat COVID-19

Bishkek, Apr. 14, 2020 / Kabar /. Members of the Kyrgyz Parliament hear today a report of the government members on measures taken to combat COVID-19, ensuring food security, and the uninterrupted conduct of spring field and business operations in 2020 under the state of emergency conditions in the republic.

Information from the Kyrgyz government was provided by First Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov. He said that, the government of the Kyrgyz Republic from the first days has been taking operational measures to combat COVID-19. “To date, 430 people have become infected with coronavirus. More than 53 thousand people were in home quarantine, more than 20 thousand were discharged from them, the rest of the citizens are under the supervision of doctors. All contacting citizens (more than 6 thousand people) are divided into two categories,” said Boronov, adding that among those infected with coronavirus infection, there are also medical workers.

He stressed that today there are 30 thousand personal protective equipment available in the republic, of which 13 thousand are reusable. “There is a sufficient supply of medical masks and respirators, drugs and other necessary medical supplies,” Boronov added.

The first vice prime minister also told the deputies about the conditions created to ensure the uninterrupted conduct of spring field and economic work in 2020 under the state of emergency and emergency situation conditions. He noted, there will be no problems at the blockposts for suppliers of fuel and lubricants and mineral fertilizers. “The Government is taking measures to stabilize the economy and ensure food security emergency mode. There will be no shortage of food and other necessary goods,” he emphasized.

He added that the Kyrgyz government provides assistance to socially vulnerable groups.
