Bishkek, July 3, 2024. /Kabar/. Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Mirlan Samykozho, Zamirbek Mamasadykov and Aigul Aidarova took part in the 31st annual summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest (Romania) from June 29 to July 3, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
More than 300 parliamentarians from 57 OSCE PA participating States and Partners for Co-operation took part in the event.
The session included meetings of three general committees, a standing committee, a plenary session of the assembly, as well as a seminar on climate change and water shortage problems in Central Asia.
The draft agenda includes issues related to the resolution of conflicts in the OSCE area, protection of the environment, human rights, exchange of experience in the field of organizing the electoral process, and resolving a number of organizational and personnel issues. The session participants reviewed the OSCE PA draft resolution “Overcoming the multifaceted consequences of climate change and water scarcity in the Central Asian region through the development of regional cooperation and parliamentary dialogue,” which was first initiated jointly with the countries of Central Asia. Delegates also made presentations on current topics on the agenda of the parliamentary assembly.
Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh held bilateral meetings with deputies of the parliaments of Portugal, Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Austria. During the meetings, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation and expansion of inter-parliamentary relations. Particular attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the fields of tourism and education.
