Bishkek, Nov. 7, 2021 / Kabar /. Some Kyrgyz officials visited the Ata-Beyit National Historical and Memorial Complex in honor of the Days of History and Memory of Ancestors, the press service of President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
State Secretary Suyunbek Kasmambetov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Azamat Zhamankulov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in Chui region Erkin Tentimishev, prominent political figures - elders Apas Zhumagulov, Medetkan Sherimkulov and others laid flowers at the Memorial to the victims of the tragic events of 1916, the Monument-memorial to the victims of political repression and the grave of the writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
A memorial prayer was read.
Days of History and Memory of Ancestors have been celebrated in Kyrgyzstan since 2018. The initiative was raised by former President Almazbek Atambayev in 2017, proposing to rename the holiday of the October Revolution on November 7 to History Day, and to establish November 8 as the Day of Remembrance of Ancestors.
