Bishkek, Aug. 28, 2020 / Kabar /. Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tokon Mamytov met with a group of volunteers from the regions of the republic who are engaged in solving problems and protecting the rights of people with disabilities (PWD), the Ombudsman's office said.
During the meeting, a number of issues related to the protection and defense of the rights of people with disabilities to full-fledged medical, socio-economic and financial support from the state, guaranteed by the Constitution and relevant laws of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as international pacts and UN Conventions ratified by the Government of Kyrgyzstan, were considered.
A separate topic of discussion was the issue of the inaccessibility of the services of lawyers for the majority of PWDs. In this regard, the volunteers asked ombudsman to provide support in providing free legal services for people with disabilities by the Center for the Coordination of State Guaranteed Legal Aid (LAGA) under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Tokon Mamytov guaranteed that all complaints and suggestions of volunteers would be considered on an individual basis, the necessary work will be carried out on them by the relevant structural divisions of the Ombudsman's office, which will be under constant control of the leadership of the Ombudsman Institute of the Kyrgyz Republic.
