Bishkek, Oct. 6, 2023. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Belarus, met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.
First, the heads of parliaments held a meeting in a narrow format, and then in an expanded format they discussed issues of building up political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Nurlanbek Shakiev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in strengthening friendly relations with the Republic of Belarus. “This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between our countries. Therefore, we should further expand the established interaction, especially in the field of developing inter-parliamentary relations. We strive to strengthen cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups and relevant committees, as well as actively develop our partnership within international organizations,” he emphasized.
The speaker also noted that the volume of trade between the two countries does not fully correspond to current opportunities, and added that Kyrgyzstan is interested in expanding exports of agricultural products to Belarus. In addition, he emphasized the need to intensify cooperation in the fields of culture and education.
In turn, Natalya Kochanova noted that the two countries once lived as part of one state. “We are connected by deep historical ties. During the Great Patriotic War, thousands of Kyrgyz soldiers died heroically defending Belarus from enemies. We will never forget their bravery,” she said.
In addition, Natalya Kochanova emphasized the importance of developing cooperation based on mutual trust and the successful implementation of agreements between states. “All agreements reached between our countries will help strengthen our relations and contribute to the development of our countries,” she emphasized.
She also expressed the need to open direct flights to facilitate exchanges between citizens and emphasized that cooperation in the field of healthcare remains one of the priorities.
Vladimir Andreichenko focused on aspects of interaction within international organizations and supported the initiative to increase the number of quotas approved by the Eurasian Economic Union for the import of electric vehicles into Kyrgyzstan without customs duties. In addition, during the conversation the possibility of exporting agricultural and mining equipment to Kyrgyzstan was touched upon.
As a result of the meeting, an Agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation was signed between the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Also, Nurlanbek Shakiev, accompanied by Natalya Kochanova and Vladimir Andreichenko, got acquainted with the activities of the Parliament of Belarus and left his wishes in the book of Guests of Honor.
