Bishkek, June 19, 2024. / Kabar/. At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies considered and adopted the bill “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of Uzbekistan on cooperation in jointly promoting the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, signed on June 6, 2024 in Beijing” in three readings.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Yrysbek Bariev presented information about the bill.
Bariev noted that the adoption of this bill will allow the practical implementation of the project for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway to begin.
The implementation of this project will have an overall positive socio-economic effect in the development of the economy of Kyrgyzstan and will significantly contribute to the expansion of transport services provided to the population, development and improvement of transport infrastructure.
According to him, the new railway corridor will become the southern branch of the Eurasian continental bridge and opensaccess to the markets of Southeast, Western Asia and the Middle East.
This route will be able to ensure the delivery of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan, as well as to the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East, including Turkiye and further to the European Union. The project will ensure increased competitiveness in the international transit transportation market by reducing the distance and time of cargo delivery.
