Bishkek, Nov. 1, 2018 / Kabar /. The deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh approved in the third reading the draft law “On ratification of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Convention on Countering Extremism”. The document was signed in Astana.
The convention forms the mechanisms of interaction of the SCO member states in the field of preventive activities, jointly countering extremism, providing legal assistance in the framework of operational search, investigative and other legal proceedings, and also contributes to the unification of the legislation of the Parties in the field of countering extremism.
An important and topical innovation of the Convention is a common vision of the legal basis for countering a violent attempt on legitimate authority, not only in the context of growing terrorist threats, but also in the broader sense of preventing any encroachment on the constitutional system, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.
