Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2020. /Kabar/. A majority coalition of Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament approved the structure, composition and program of Sadyr Zhaparov's government. The meeting of the coalition is taking place at the Ala-Archa state residence.
Isa Omurkulov, the head of the majority coalition said the decision would now be transmitted to chairmen of the relevant committees and then signed by the Jogorku Kenesh.
The majority coalition includes factions of Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, Respublika-Ata-Jurt, Kyrgyzstan and Bir Bol.
On Oct. 10 MPs gathered for extraordinary session and elected Sadyr Zhaparov as prime minister of the country. However, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov returned the document to the parliament stating that appointment of the head of government should not cause questions concerning legitimacy.
Following the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, held last Sunday with the participation of 16 parties, supporters of political parties, which failed to win seats, organized protest actions in Bishkek demanding the annulment of the elections and claiming gross violations. Preliminary results showed that four parties crossed the 7 percent threshold to enter the parliament.
Kyrgyzstan's Central Election Commission annulled on Oct. 6 the results of the elections after clashes between police and protesters.
As a result of riots, over 1000 people were injured, 1 (man,19) has died.
On Oct. 9, in his official statement President Jeenbekov declared readiness to resign.
On the same day he signed a decree on resignation of the government and prime minister.
