Parliament of Kyrgyzstan elects new speaker

Bishkek, Oct. 13, 2020 / Kabar /. Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh from the Kyrgyzstan faction Kanat Isayev has been elected a speaker of the parliament.

A total of 80 deputies voted. 78 deputies voted for Isayev's, two were against.

The parliamentary session, which is being held at the Ala-Archa state residence is attended by 62 deputies, the rest 18 deputies sent their powers of attorney.

Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Myktybek Abdyldaev, who has been elected as a speaker on Oct. 6, 2020 replacing Dastan Dzhumabekov, who resigned amid protests in Bishkek on Oct. 5, has resigned on Oct .10.

The protest actions have started in the capital city of Kyrgyzstan on Oct. 5 after the parliamentary elections, which was held on Oct. 4. Some parties which failed to meet the voting threshold organized protests demanding the election's annulment, claiming gross violations.

The Central Election Commission annulled the results of the parliamentary elections on Oct. 6 and has to set the date of the new elections until Nov.6.
