Bishkek, Dec. 10, 2020. /Kabar/. Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) adopted on Thursday the draft law "On calling of the referendum to define the state structure of the Kyrgyz Republic (popular vote)”.
The initiator of the bill, which passed in the second and third readings, is MP Akylbek Zhaparov.
At the time of voting 64 deputies were registered. Of them 60 voted for and 4 - against.
According to the draft law, it is proposed to choose which form of government the people want: presidential or parliamentary. It is also proposed to put on the ballot a column "against all".
The referendum is proposed to be held during the early presidential elections on Jan. 10, 2021.
