Kyrgyz Parliament speaker and ambassador of KSA discuss inter-parliamentary ties

Bishkek, Jan. 21, 2025. / Kabar /. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kyrgyz Republic Ibrahim bin Radi Al Radi, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.

At the meeting, the current state of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries were discussed. The parties also exchanged views on expanding inter-parliamentary ties.

Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu noted that the KSA is one of the main partner states for Kyrgyzstan, and added that cooperation between the two countries has reached a new level in recent years.

"Currently, eight projects worth a total of $330 million are being implemented with funding from the Saudi Fund for Development. But this is not the limit. Our countries have great potential for developing relations. In particular, priority areas for expanding relations are such sectors as tourism and energy. We also need to continue to deepen trade and economic cooperation,” the speaker said.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu also outlined the major role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening relations and touched upon issues in the field of expanding relations between the Jogorku Kenesh and the Majlis ash-Shura of the KSA.

In turn, Ambassador Ibrahim bin Radi Al Radi provided detailed information on the work he is carrying out in Kyrgyzstan as part of diplomatic activities, focusing on socio-economic projects.

“We are interested in developing cooperation in all areas. Our citizens are interested in seeing the beautiful nature of Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, in recent years, the number of tourists has been increasing and trade and economic indicators between our countries have been improving,” he said.

Ibrahim bin Radi Al Radi also emphasized that in recent years the number of mutual visits at various levels has been growing, and invited Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu to pay an official visit to the KSA.
