Kyrgyz Parliament speaker, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discuss expanding inter-parliamentary co-op

Bishkek, May 13, 2022 /Kabar/. Bilateral meeting was held between Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported that the sides discussed the strengthening of comprehensive ties, including the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Talant Mamytov thanked for the invitation to visit Turkmenistan to participate in the First Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asia and Russia, and expressed confidence that this Forum will contribute to strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between the countries of the region.

"This year marks the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. We appreciate the cooperation established during 30 years and are interested in further active development of friendly and fraternal relations," the Kyrgyz speaker noted, also mentioning last year's meetings of heads of states.

In addition,Mamytov stressed the importance of developing inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two states.

"The Jogorku Kenesh intends to hold the next meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TurkPA) in June 2022 in Kyrgyzstan. In this regard, we will be very happy to see the delegation of the Turkmen Parliament at this event as well," Mamytov emphasized.

In turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recalled the visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov to Turkmenistan last year, where agreements on important areas were signed.

A delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh, headed by Talant Mamytov, takes part in the First Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asia and Russia in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
