Bishkek, Jan.17, 2025. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu received on Friday Ambassador of Palestine to Kyrgyzstan Jawad Awad, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
In the course of the meeting, the issues of development of cooperation between the two countries, including inter-parliamentary ties, were discussed, as well as an exchange of views on the current situation in Palestine.
The speaker of the Parliament noted that Kyrgyzstan is following with concern the sad events in Palestine, including in the Gaza Strip. “On behalf of the Jogorku Kenesh and on my own behalf, I express deep condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the conflict, as well as to the entire Palestinian people. We wish a speedy end to this sad tragedy in the history of mankind, we support and are interested in the realization of the agreement reached,” he said.
In addition, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu added that Kyrgyzstan condemns the military efforts against Palestine and recalled the 8th Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, where Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov also stressed the need for a ceasefire and called on the international community to ensure unimpeded access of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.
In turn, Ambassador Jawad Awad said that the actions against Palestine have continued since Oct.7, 2023, the tragedy has killed 60 thousand people, more than 160 thousand people were injured, many missing. He also added that the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip and 85% of residential houses have been completely destroyed.
He also expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz people for their support during the sad days for the Palestinian people. “On international platforms, you always openly express your opinion and support us in adopting resolutions and decisions. We will never forget your help,” said Awad.
In conclusion, the ambassador handed a letter from the head of the Palestinian Parliament to his interlocutor and invited him to pay an official visit to Palestine.
