Kyrgyz Parliament speaker leaves for Baku to attend 9th Plenary Session of TURKPA

Bishkek, Dec.17, 2019. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov has left for Baku, Azerbaijan to attend the 9th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA).

According to the Parliament’s press service, on Dec.18 the speaker will take part in the meeting of the Assembly Council, in the framework of which the ceremony of handing over the chairmanship of the organization from the Turkish Grand National Assembly to the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan is expected to be held.

The 9th Plenary Session of TURKPA will be held on the same day.

The TURKPA in full, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries, is an international organization comprising some of the Turkic countries. It was founded on Nov.21, 2008 in Istanbul.

The General Secretariat is in Baku, Azerbaijan. The member countries are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Since late 2018, Hungary is an observer.
