Kyrgyz Parliament speaker meets with chairman of Grand National Assembly of Turkey

Bishkek, Sept. 9, 2021. / Kabar /. Within the framework of participation in the 5th World Conference of Speakers, a bilateral meeting of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov with Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop took place in Vienna.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported that, the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as interaction within the framework of international organizations uniting parliamentarians. In this direction, the heads of Parliaments of the two countries discussed issues on the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the TURKPA Council, which will be held in Turkestan (Kazakhstan) on September 27-28 of this year.

Continuing the conversation, Talant Mamytov informed his colleague about the internal political processes in the Kyrgyz Republic and about the upcoming parliamentary elections, which will be held on November 28, 2021.

The head of the Turkish parliament stressed that dynamic bilateral relations have been established between the two countries, which include all areas of cooperation. In this context, it was mutually noted about the need to use the existing potential for building up trade and economic relations.

Also, the sides expressed an opinion on mutual consideration of the possibility of holding days of the culture of Kyrgyzstan in Turkey, during the World Nomad Games in Iznik in 2022.

The speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh informed that currently there are about 30,000 Kyrgyz citizens working in Turkey, who are faced with the issue of the length of their official stay in Turkey. Taking into account the appeals of compatriots living and working in Turkey, Talant Mamytov expressed a request for assistance from the Turkish Grand National Assembly in extending a visa-free stay for Kyrgyz citizens for up to 180 days upon initial entry into Turkey, as well as the right to further extend for legal labor activity.

At the end of the meeting, Talant Mamytov expressed gratitude for the fruitful meeting and, continuing close cooperation, invited Mustafa Shentop to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
