Kyrgyz Parliament speaker meets with head of Senate of t Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan

Bishkek, Sept. 26, 2023. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev met with Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva as part of his official visit to Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, issues of intensifying political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two fraternal countries were discussed.

Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiev thanked Chairwoman of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva for the invitation to visit Uzbekistan for an official visit.

Nurlanbek Shakiev noted that in recent years there has been significant positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations.

Regarding the issue of inter-parliamentary cooperation with Uzbekistan, he outlined the important role of parliaments in strengthening interstate relations. “Parliamentary diplomacy is an effective mechanism for the development of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations. In this context, we need to intensify bilateral contacts and continue cooperation aimed at developing a strategic partnership. We are interested in discussing and resolving all issues aimed at building relations,” he added.

In turn, Tanzila Narbaeva noted that Kyrgyzstan is one of the main partner countries for Uzbekistan and emphasized that the main goal is to expand Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation based on similar cultural and spiritual values and the principles of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.

“Along with political and economic cooperation, our cultural ties are also actively developing. For example, a number of commemorative events are being held in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the great writer Chyngyz Aitmatov,” said Tanzila Narbaeva.

She also said that more than 300 thousand citizens of Kyrgyz nationality live in Uzbekistan, and added that the Kyrgyz diaspora is the most active.

During the conversation, cooperation in the field of tourism was also discussed, and Tanzila Narbaeva recalled that as a child she had the opportunity to visit Arstanbap and relax in this picturesque place. “Uzbeks are interested in the beautiful nature and rich culture of Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, we need to expand tourism opportunities,” said the chairwoman.

At the end of the meeting, Nurlanbek Shakiev, accompanied by Tanzila Narbayeva, got acquainted with the activities of the Senate and left his wishes in the book of honorable guests.
