Bishkek, Oct 15, 2024. /Kabar/. Within the framework of the meeting in the 5 + 1 format, held in Ashgabat, negotiations were held between Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won-shik.
The press service of the Jogorku Kenesh said that the sides discussed the current state of Kyrgyz-Korean cooperation, and also exchanged views on the development of inter-parliamentary relations.
Nurlanbek Shakiev expressed Kyrgyzstan's interest in further building up bilateral relations, focusing on issues of deepening socio-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties.
Speaker Shakiev also congratulated Woo Won-shik on his election as Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and invited him to visit Kyrgyzstan on an official visit.
In turn, Woo Won-shik noted that Central Asia and the Republic of Korea have an important geopolitical location. "From this point of view, the possibilities of interstate economic cooperation are limitless," he said. At the same time, he noted with satisfaction the dynamic nature of the interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Korea, adding that there are many projects aimed at developing partnership.
In addition, the chairman of the Korean Parliament thanked for the congratulations and promised that at the invitation of the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, he will definitely visit Kyrgyzstan.
Nurlanbek Shakiev is in Ashgabat to take part in the Second Meeting of the Heads of Parliament of the Central Asian Countries and the Republic of Korea.
