Bishkek, Oct. 5, 2023. / Kabar /. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev met in Minsk with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as part of his official visit to this country.
Issues of intensifying political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
The Kyrgyz speaker conveyed the greetings sent by President Sadyr Zhaparov and recalled that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sovereign states.
Shakiev dwelled on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations.
“It is necessary to actively develop Kyrgyz-Belarusian cooperation, especially in the field of economic partnership. This is due to the presence of significant opportunities to increase trade volumes between our countries. Of particular interest is not only the export of environmentally friendly agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan to Belarus, but also the implementation of joint infrastructure projects,” he emphasized.
In turn, Alexander Lukashenko noted the important contribution of parliamentary diplomacy to strengthening interstate relations and emphasized the need for active interaction in this area.
In addition, he expressed his vision of the current geopolitical situation. “We, of course, are not giant states and cannot determine the vector of world politics. However, it is important to understand that any country, regardless of its size and scale, has an impact on the global landscape,” he emphasized.
Lukashenko cited as an example the fact that in the past Belarus received various agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan, including sugar beet seeds. “I know the Kyrgyz people well, they are a wise and hardworking people. Therefore, if we work together, we will achieve great success,” he said, emphasizing the importance of working together and expanding interregional ties.
