Bishkek, June 26, 2023. / Kabar /. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev, within the framework of his official visit to Kazakhstan, met with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
At the meeting, the current state of interstate relations was discussed, and an exchange of views took place on expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Shakiev expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in developing relations with Kazakhstan, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties. Along with this, he also dwelled on the issues of economic cooperation and focused on the implementation of tasks to increase the volume of trade between the two countries to $2 billion in the near future.
“We are not only strategic partners, but also close brotherly countries that have always lived in peace and harmony. Therefore, we need to successfully implement the agreements reached and continue our cooperation,” the speaker said.
The president of Kazakhstan noted that relations between the two countries have been actively developing in recent years and stressed that all issues are resolved promptly through negotiations.
In addition, he touched upon the issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. “Last year, the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan were held in Kazakhstan at a high level, and cultural ties between our peoples with similar traditions and customs reached a new level. I believe that this contributes to the strengthening of friendship and fraternal relations between our countries,” Tokayev added.
