Bishkek, Nov. 27, 2020 / Kabar/. Acting President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov took part in the parliamentary online conference of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS Council), the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament reported.
The meeting was attended by the heads of parliamentary delegations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS bodies and international organizations.
The participants of the meeting considered the issues of the state and prospects of economic integration and its regulatory support in the Eurasian space, legislative support of measures taken in the CIS member states in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, preparation for observing elections to state bodies of the CIS countries in 2021.
Talant Mamytov informed the participants about the events that took place in October this year in Kyrgyzstan related to public dissatisfaction with the results of the parliamentary elections.
The speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh told that the early presidential elections are scheduled for Jan. 10, 2021 in Kyrgyzstan, after which it is planned to hold parliamentary elections.
At the same time, he invited a delegation from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to participate in international monitoring of the preparation and conduct of the above-mentioned elections in the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the meeting of the Council, the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sports, by its decision, submitted to the Assembly Council a proposal to award the prize of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly named after Chingiz Aitmatov to a literary critic, writer, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Philology Sciences, Professor Vladimir Gnilomedov.
The Council supported the candidacy of Professor Vladimir Gnilomedov and in view of the epidemiological situation associated with the spread of coronavirus infection, it was proposed to present the prize to the laureate in person and in a solemn atmosphere after the normalization of the epidemiological situation.
Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova thanked the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic for the initiative to establish the Chingiz Aitmatov Prize of the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS member states. They noted that this decision was a significant step of the Assembly in memory of the great writer, who united whole nations with his works.
