Kyrgyz Parliament supports draft law on reducing electoral threshold

Bishkek, June 18, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, June 18 Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) supported in the third reading the draft Constitutional Law "On Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Election of President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh".

Initiators of the bill are 21 deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh.

The bill is aimed at reducing the percentage barrier provided for in Article 64 of the Constitutional Law "On the Election of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh".

It is proposed to reduce the electoral barrier for political parties to enter the Jogorku Kenesh from 9 to 7 %.

In Kyrgyzstan, parliamentary elections is scheduled to be held on Oct. 4, 2020.
