Bishkek, April 24, 2021. / Kabar / . Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh ( Kyrgyz Parliament) Talant Mamytov held a meeting with UNDP Resident Representative Louise Chamberlain.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported that the meeting took place on the initiative of Speaker Mamytov.
Noting the positive results of cooperation of Kyrgyzstan with the United Nations Development Program, the speaker highly evaluated the projects "Strong and Inclusive Parliamentary Democracy" and joint activities carried out within the "Jogorku Kenesh Development Strategy" aimed at improving the work of the Kyrgyz Parliament.
In her turn, Louise Chamberlain thanked for the meeting and provided information on the current activities of the organization in the field of socio-economic development, health, green economy, digitalization, development of gender equality and plans for further cooperation with the Jogorku Kenesh.
During the meeting, special attention was also paid to the upcoming work on harmonization of legislation in accordance with the new Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In this regard, Talant Mamytov drew attention to the poor condition of the information and technology base of the Office of the Jogorku Kenesh. He informed that in light of the October 2020 popular unrest, the infrastructure and technical resources of the Parliament building were severely damaged.
He called on the UN Development Program to consider assistance in restoring the information and communication resources of the Kyrgyz Parliament.
