Kyrgyz PM Boronov meets with EBRD Regional Director Neil McCain

Bishkek, Sept. 9, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minitser Kubatbek Boronov and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Regional Director for Central Asia Neil McCain discussed bilateral cooperation issues, the Government's press service said Wednesday.

PM Boronov, expressing gratitude to the financial institution for the support provided to the Kyrgyz Republic, noted the importance of joint work aimed at socio-economic development of the country.

The sides discussed the implementation of infrastructure projects in the energy sector, improvement of municipal infrastructure, rehabilitation of water supply and sewerage systems in a number of towns.

Kubatbek Boronov emphasized that within the framework of joint cooperation the most important projects to improve the investment climate, municipal and infrastructure services in small towns, support entrepreneurship development and strengthen the financial sector have been implemented through loans and grants.

The head of the government provided information on some economic indicators of the country, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic has made certain changes and adjustments in the work of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

For his part, Neil McCain told about the Bank's activities and priorities, including assistance in implementing reforms. He also said that the Kyrgyz Republic is an important and reliable partner of the EBRD, so the organization attaches great importance to the continuation of comprehensive cooperation.

In conclusion, Boronov noted the republic highly appreciates cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for its support in implementing social and economic projects in the regions.
