Bishkek, Aug. 14, 2020. /Kabar/. Despite the difficulties, the Government is working to resolve the economic situation in the country, Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov said at an extraordinary meeting of the Government, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported Friday.
"Each country is going through a difficult time. The world faces a global recession. As well as in all neighboring countries first of all the blow has fallen on economy. As a result of socio-economic development in the first half of the year, economic activity has decreased by 5.3%. All this has also affected the revenue part of the republican budget. We had to accept the budget with a deficit of 5%. But the active work of state bodies allowed us to improve the situation. Now we are facing big challenges that require hard and fast work," Boronov said.
He noted that the measures taken allowed to prevent the decline of economic indicators to a minimum.
"We have taken a number of measures to ensure an easing for business environment. This is a step-by-step resumption of business, postponement of tax and other payments, monitoring of tax audits. In addition, we have developed a program to support entrepreneurs. KGS 14 billion was allocated for these purposes. Representatives of business can obtain soft credits to open or resume their business. These and other measures have not allowed reducing the rate of economic growth," Boronov noted.
At the same time, assistance was provided to socially vulnerable segments of the population.
"During the emergency and state of emergency, many families in a difficult situation were provided with the necessary food. About 900,000 families received assistance. In addition, a ban on the export of essential foodstuffs was introduced. Temporary state regulation of prices for 11 types of goods was introduced, VAT on medicines was removed," continued Kubatbek Boronov.
He added one of the main tasks for today is to reduce unemployment.
