Bishkek, Aug. 6, 2020 /Kabar/. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov held Thursday a meeting to discuss the progress of preparatory work for the election of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) to be held on Oct.4, 2020, the Government’s press service reported.

The head of the government noted the Republican Headquarters has been established to assist the electoral commissions in addressing organizational issues and logistical support for the elections, which is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Akram Madumarov.
"The upcoming parliamentary elections are notable for the fact that they will be held during the coronavirus pandemic. A major political event requires high organization, including ensuring epidemiological security at the polling stations themselves during the voting period and preventing citizens from becoming infected. We face the task of ensuring all conditions for holding open and fair elections," Kubatbek Boronov said.
At present, there are 2,464 polling stations, of which 44 are abroad. The preliminary list of voters (as of July 24) includes 3 million 428 thousand 873 people.
During the online meeting, Chairwoman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendum of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurzhan Shaildabekova made a report, stressing that the work on preparation for the parliamentary elections in the country is fully underway.

During the voting at the polling stations, citizens will undergo temperature checks, personal protective equipment will be distributed, periodically disinfection of premises and the observance of the prescribed distance is provided.
Heads of law enforcement agencies, the Finance Ministry, the State Committee for Information Technology and Communications, the State Registration Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic also reported in the course of the online meeting.
PM Boronov gave a number of instructions to the relevant state bodies, including on ensuring public order, cyber security, implementation of organizational issues.
