Kyrgyz PM Maripov sets number of tasks to prepare for spring field work

Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2021 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov held a meeting on preparation for spring field work, the press service of the Kyrgyz government reported.

The head of government noted that this year the calendar spring came ahead of schedule and in some areas spring field work is already underway.

“In preparation for the spring field work, farmers need to be provided with high-quality seeds, resolve the issue of agricultural machinery and its repair, provide fuel and lubricants to prevent the rise in prices for diesel fuel in the season, prepare irrigation and hydraulic structures. With the available water reserves, there should be no problems with irrigating crops. In order to provide farmers with fuel and lubricants, it is necessary to actively cooperate with the Association of Oil Traders,” Maripov said.

The prime minister stressed the importance of providing farmers with accurate information so that in the future there is no oversupply of one of the crops and its marketing.

“It is important to actively introduce advanced technologies in agriculture. We are talking about drip irrigation, greenhouses, purchasing new equipment, solving problems with irrigation water, including lands that are not currently cultivated in the crop rotation,” the head of government said.

The prime minister said that in preparation for the spring field work, the government of the Kyrgyz Republic made a decision to allocate KGS 540.1 million for the implementation of a leasing program for the purchase of agricultural machinery.

Ulukbek Maripov emphasized that the local authorities should actively work with farmers, conduct explanatory work among them about the advisability of sowing certain agricultural crops that are in demand on the market.
