Bishkek, Aug. 29, 2020 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kubatbek Boronov held a meeting with authorized person for the protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of business entities (Business Ombudsman) of the Kyrgyz Republic Robin Ord-Smith, the government’s press service reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister spoke about some of the country's economic indicators, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic has made certain changes and adjustments to the work of the Kyrgyz government.
“The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic has done significant work and today we can see a certain positive effect of the proposed measures aimed at restoring economic activity of business entities, supporting small and medium-sized businesses,” said Kubatbek Boronov.
During the meeting, a number of important issues were discussed, including strengthening the Business Ombudsman Institute, the planned further steps of the institute, including issues related to the development and adoption of the law on business ombudsman.
Robin Ord-Smith briefed the Kyrgyz PM on the first months of the work of the Business Ombudsman Institute and the main results and conclusions.
“We observe a high level of interaction on the part of state bodies on most cases taken by the institute for study. There are, of course, government bodies that are reluctant to provide the requested information and show little interest in cooperation, although the institute is not an opponent of government bodies, but acts as a partner in solving problems important for entrepreneurs,” Robin Ord-Smith said.
He noted that the coronavirus pandemic has also made adjustments to the institute's work plan. With this in mind, today the Institute expresses its readiness to strengthen joint work in key areas, including the development of proposals for improving legislation in order to improve the investment and business environment.
In turn, Kubatbek Boronov noted that he welcomes the decision of the Business Ombudsman Institute to actively participate in the work of expert groups in priority areas to develop proposals for introducing appropriate amendments and additions to the legislation in order to ensure greater transparency, efficiency and elimination of collisions in the interaction of business with government bodies proposed by him during the meeting of the Council for Business Development and Investment under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on August 27, 2020.
