Bishkek, March 3, 2021. / Kabar /. During a live broadcast on Wednesday, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov told about the measures taken to regulate the rise in prices for fuels and lubricants, medicines and food.
According to him, in recent days, the cost of gasoline in Kyrgyzstan rose to KGS 40-41.
"This is due to the fact that the cost of oil in the world is increasing. Recently, the cost of crude oil has increased by 31%. In Russia itself and neighboring countries, the situation is similar. All this has had a direct impact on our market of fuel and lubricants," said Maripov.
The prime minister added the Government will use every opportunity to regulate fuel prices.
"Recently, a document was signed, which prohibits the export of all types of oil from the country, except fuel oil. Also, we have to provide sufficient diesel fuel to farmers ahead of upcoming spring field work," the prime minister stressed.
The head of the government also informed about the measures taken to regulate food prices.
"The antimonopoly body has been instructed to work on the import of essential food products from neighboring countries. The issue of food prices must be regulated," Maripov added.
He also touched upon the issue of rising drug prices.
"This is also a big issue. Medicines are exempt from many taxes. Unfortunately, we cannot produce all medicines in our country. But we have adopted a number of mechanisms to reduce the cost of drugs. Yes, during the quarantine the prices went up, but we have to help our ordinary citizens to ensure access to necessary medicines," Ulukbek Maripov said.
