Kyrgyz poet Sagynbyu Berkinalieva honored with William Shakespeare Award

Bishkek, Dec.23, 2024. /Kabar/. At the 5th International Congress of Writers CIESART, held on Dec. 14-16 in Medinaceli, Spain, female poet from Kyrgyzstan Sagynbyubyu Berkinalieva won the Shakespeare Prize among Spanish- and English-language poets.

During the press conference at Kabar News Agency, the poetess told journalists that receiving such an award is a significant milestone in her career and places great responsibility on her.

“After that I realized that there is no need to be afraid of something. Every day I am more and more interested in life, because thanks to communication with a lot of new people, I discover the world, and the world learns about me,” she shared.

At the international congress in Spain, Berkinalieva presented her works in the category “poetry” in Spanish, translated by Costa Rican poet Maria Zuniga Fayez. As part of the competition, she also gave a reading of her poetry to the public.

Sagynbyubyu Berkinalieva is a member of the Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan, the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation, the Union of Writers of North America, as well as the Union of Writers of Central Asia and the Eurasian Creative Guild.

Her work is characterized by deep emotionality and reflects the richness of Kyrgyz culture. She actively participates in the literary life of Kyrgyzstan and beyond, contributing to the popularization of Kyrgyz poetry in the international arena.
