Kyrgyz president about situation in eastern Ukraine

Bishkek, Feb. 22, 2022. / Kabar /. I am following the development of the situation in eastern Ukraine with deep concern, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov wrote on his Facebook page.

“I am constantly informed about the development of the situation, including around the Donbass.

The Kyrgyz Republic has always proceeded from the need to comply with the Minsk agreements, which are the only document on the settlement of the conflict that received the support of the UN Security Council.

Unfortunately, their failure to comply has led to the current difficult situation. I am convinced of the need to resolve the situation that has arisen exclusively by peaceful diplomatic means and at the negotiating table in order to avoid human casualties,” President Zhaparov wrote.

The Kyrgyz president urged to exercise maximum prudence and restraint in resolving the situation in order to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

“Perhaps this was a forced measure to protect the civilian population of the territories of Donbass, where a large number of Russian citizens live.

I want to note that the recognition of this or that state is the sovereign right of any country,” he wrote.
