Kyrgyz president addresses meeting of CIS Council of Heads of State

Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2024 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov addressed the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS SG) held in a narrow format in Moscow.

Leaders of the CIS member states discussed issues of deepening cooperation within the Commonwealth, topical aspects of the regional and international agenda.

Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the key indicators of development efficiency in the Commonwealth are the sustainable growth of national economies, improvement of socio-economic situation, as well as the improvement of well-being of the population of the CIS member states observed in recent years.

On the issues on the agenda, the Kyrgyz leader stressed that Kyrgyzstan supports the adoption of the Address of the CIS leaders to the peoples of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the world community in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the approval of the Regulations on the honorary title of the Commonwealth of Independent States "City of Labor Glory 1941-1945". He noted that the Kyrgyz side would actively participate in all events to be held within the CIS to immortalize the memory of the Great Victory.

"The Kyrgyz Republic is also aimed at further increasing multifaceted cooperation within the Commonwealth, increasing mutual trade, developing and improving transportation and logistics routes, creating joint projects in industrial cooperation, agriculture, infrastructure and other areas. We are also interested in working together to ensure food and energy security, as well as access to new advanced technologies and innovations," Zhaparov emphasized.

Emphasizing the relevance of energy security issues, the president called for joining efforts to implement joint projects on the development of generation, commodity exchange of energy resources and renewable energy sources (RES), which will strengthen the energy security of the region and reduce dependence on hydrocarbons.

Sadyr Zhaparov called for intensification of cooperation in the field of labor migration and stressed the need to continue common work to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between peoples, search for mutually acceptable solutions aimed at full implementation of workers' rights, ensuring free movement of workers within the CIS, expressing concern about the strengthening of restrictions on the entry of workers.

In conclusion, President Zhaparov assured that Kyrgyzstan will continue to support cooperation within the CIS and the development of friendly relations between the countries, expressing confidence that the outcome of the meeting will be the basis for further cooperation.
