Bishkek, March 25, 2022 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov sent an address to the people of Kyrgyzstan in connection with the launch of the 2022 population and housing census campaign.
The head of state in his address noted: “We are on the verge of an event of great political, economic and international significance. The population and housing census will be held in Kyrgyzstan from March 25 to April 3, and in some remote rural districts - from April 23 to May 2".
He said that the United Nations (UN) has decided on mass campaign in 2020, but Kyrgyzstan was forced to postpone it due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The president stressed the importance of economic and social importance of the population and housing census.
”You know that the demographic situation in any state is constantly changing, it is greatly influenced by internal and external migration that has not slowed down over the past 10-15 years. During this period, there have been major changes in the composition, location, and quality of the housing stock. Often residential premises were built without the permission of the relevant state and municipal authorities, without approved projects.
Therefore, obtaining real and accurate data on the population and its location on the territory of the republic, on its composition by sex, age, level of education, nationality and living conditions is the main task of the census.
This information cannot be obtained in any other way. The most important thing is that the information obtained in this way is the basis for the development or refinement of the strategy for the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan for the coming years and for the future. Finally, the census data is the history of our country, which will be used by future generations”, he said.
President Zhaparov drew attention to the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country. He said that the National Statistical Committee and the Ministry of Health have developed and approved an algorithm of actions to prevent the further spread of coronavirus infection during this event.
He also emphasized that the population and housing census in Kyrgyzstan is conducted for the first time in electronic format.
At the end of his address the president asked the people to take an active part in the population and housing census, which is held under the motto "Everyone counts in Kyrgyzstan."
Zhaparov added that based on these data, the country's development line is determined, and hence its future.”This important information will provide a real picture of the human potential of the Kyrgyz Republic”, he said.
