Kyrgyz President and UN Secretary General exchange congratulatory messages on the 25th anniversary of accession of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev and the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 25th anniversary of the accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reports.

"Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations. Over the past quarter of a century the United Nations has made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan and reforms in key areas. I remember meeting with you with a sense of special warmth, held within the framework of the Munich Security Conference," the message says.

The Kyrgyz leader said that he is deeply grateful for the kindness to Kyrgyzstan and readiness to develop multifaceted cooperation between our country and the UN.

"In this regard particularly I like to emphasize the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to build effective collaboration with the United Nations for the implementation of projects and programs aimed at achieving sustainable development.

On this occasion, I invite you to visit the Kyrgyz Republic at any time convenient for you," the message says.

Kyrgyz President wished the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres good health, prosperity and every success in his multifaceted activities.

UN Secretary-General in his telegram congratulated the government and people of Kyrgyzstan on the 25th anniversary of membership in the United Nations.

He said that since the entry into the Organization of 2 March 1992, Kyrgyzstan has established itself as a reliable partner of the UN.

"We managed to create a strong cooperation in various fields, including the promotion of the electoral process, peace-building, conflict prevention and sustainable development.

Especially I would like to emphasize my gratitude for the cooperation of Kyrgyzstan with the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia and the UN Mission in Kyrgyzstan," the message says.

UN Secretary-General pledged the UN readiness to continue close cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic, which is especially important in the implementation of the sustainable development agenda in 2030 and achieving sustainable development for the people of Kyrgyzstan.
