Kyrgyz president: Central Asia becomes more attractive in trade, economic and investment co-op

Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2021 / Kabar /. From year to year the Central Asian region is becoming more and more attractive from the point of view of the prospects for trade, economic and investment cooperation, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov told at the First European Union-Central Asia Economic Forum in Bishkek.

The head of state noted that if we talk about figures, then, according to data of the World Bank, in 1993 the GDP of the Central Asian countries amounted to USD 45 billion, and by 2019 it had grown 8 times and reached USD 347 billion; it is expected that by 2030 this amount will almost double to about USD 610 billion.

“Thus, both the value and purely economic aspects confirm the existence of preconditions for building promising cooperation with the countries of the European Union,” he said.

Bishkek hosts the First European Union-Central Asia Economic Forum in Bishkek. In 2019 the EU and the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries agreed to hold the First EU-CA Economic Forum.

The main topics of this Forum will be the economic recovery after COVID-19, as well as issues of the business environment and digitalization.
