Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2020. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov visited on Friday the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the country, his press service reported.
During the meeting, the Kyrgyz president discussed with newly appointed General Staff Chief Taalaibek Omuraliyev measures to stabilize the social and political situation in the country.
The head of state noted that at the moment, the main task is to ensure safety of Bishkek residents and public order in the capital.
"Today I have signed a decree on introduction of the state of emergency in Bishkek. Based on the current situation, we must urgently take the situation under control and strengthen peace," Jeenbekov stressed.
He added that in addition to political appeals, there are calls aimed at splitting society.
"Citizens and our compatriots should not become victims of political passions of irresponsible politicians. For this purpose, I, as the head of state, will make every effort, based on my constitutional rights, to ensure peaceful life of people and integrity of the country. I am sure that all responsible forces of the country will support me," President Jeenbekov concluded.
Today President Jeenbekov signed a decree on introducing a state of emergency in Bishkek, which provides for a curfew from 8:00 p.m on Oct. 9, 2020 till 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2020, a special regime of entry and exit of citizens, ban for individual citizens to leave their house or place of temporary residence for a specified period, checking of documents in places of mass gathering of citizens and other measures.
