Kyrgyz President discusses prospects for cooperation with Japanese parliamentarians

Bishkek, Oct. 22, 2019. / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, as part of his working trip to Japan in Tokyo, met with members of the Kyrgyzstan-Japan Friendship League of Parliament, led by its leader, Gen Nakatani.

An exchange of views took place on pressing issues of bilateral cooperation, including interparliamentary cooperation, the Kyrgyz President’s press service said.

Jeenbekov noted that it was an honor for him to take part in the historic event of Japan - the accession to the throne of Emperor Naruhito, emphasizing that the continuity of ancient Japanese traditions made a great impression on him.

Congratulating the new Emperor on the enthronement, he wished the Japanese people development and prosperity. He noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the strengthening and development of friendly relations with Japan.

“Japan provides us with significant assistance in the implementation of various socio-economic projects. I also want to note the assistance in strengthening parliamentarism in Kyrgyzstan,”said Jeenbekov.

He also expressed interest of the Kyrgyz side in attracting large foreign companies and corporations, including those from Japan, to implement joint projects.

Members of the Kyrgyzstan-Japan Friendship League of Friendship expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz Republic for participating in the enthronement ceremony of Emperor of Japan Naruhito.

“Your visit and participation in the ceremony is evidence of the special attitude of the people of Kyrgyzstan and your personal attitude to our country,” the parliamentarians of Japan emphasized.

They noted with satisfaction that on the eve to the Japanese NHK channel, President Jeenbekov spoke about the importance of expanding Kyrgyz-Japanese cooperation. They also spoke about the mutual visits of the parliamentary delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Japan.

“Kyrgyzstan has great tourism potential. You have beautiful nature, clean air, clean water. Large reserves of water and energy resources. All this is the invaluable wealth of Kyrgyzstan,” the members of the Kyrgyzstan-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League emphasized.

They also noted the benefits of environmentally friendly products, including Kyrgyz honey, and gave Jeenbekov a jar of honey from Kyrgyzstan, purchased in a Japanese store.
