Bishkek, May 15, 2024. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov made a statement to the media following negotiations with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim:

“During the visit, an important bilateral meeting took place in the history of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia.

The arrival of the respected Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim and the large delegation accompanying him to Kyrgyzstan and our negotiations mark the opening of a new page in the history of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia.

Today, together with the distinguished prime minister, we discussed in detail the current state of bilateral cooperation and the potential for further development, and exchanged views on new areas of cooperation.

In particular, we discussed agriculture, tourism, energy, renewable energy, mining, infrastructure, information technology, halal industry and economic development.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, a number of successful activities have been carried out between the two countries, leading to positive achievements.

But, unfortunately, the full potential of our cooperation has not yet been fully realized. Therefore, the question was raised about intensifying the work of the Special Kyrgyz-Malaysian Joint Commission in order to supplement our Kyrgyz-Malaysian friendly relations with additional practical content. I am confident that the intensification of the activities of this commission will give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, there was a discussion about the opening of direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia. There is no doubt that the implementation of this project will raise the tourism, trade, economic, transport and logistics partnership between our two countries to a new high level.

I would like to note that there are no obstacles to deepening successful cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia. This provision is an important basis for raising the bilateral partnership to a higher level.

Our fruitful meeting ended with the signing of the “Joint Statement on the comprehensive enhancement of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia.” This document will serve as a “Road Map” for the further development of Kyrgyz-Malaysian relations.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister, I express my deep gratitude for your visit to the Kyrgyz Republic and for the fruitful negotiations.

I believe that the potential of our cooperation will be fully realized and I express my readiness to make all the necessary efforts for its further development.”

Following the negotiations, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim signed a “Joint Statement on the comprehensive enhancement of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia.”
