Kyrgyz president holds talks with chairman of National Council of Austria

Bishkek, Nov. 26, 2024. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with Chairman of the National Council of the Republic of Austria Walter Rosenkranz as part of an official visit to Austria.

Before the talks, President Sadyr Zhaparov left a note in the Book of Honorary Guests, expressing gratitude to the Austrian side for the warm welcome and hospitality.

During the talks, the sides exchanged views on a number of issues of Kyrgyz-Austrian relations with an emphasis on the development and strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties.

Walter Rosenkranz expressed satisfaction with the visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov and noted that Austria and Kyrgyzstan are united by the mountainous landscape. He emphasized that the unique mountains of the two countries not only impress with their natural beauty, but also have great potential for the development of tourism. The chairman of the National Council expressed Austria's readiness to share its rich experience in this promising area.

Walter Rosenkranz also drew attention to common climate challenges, such as melting glaciers, which both countries face. He emphasized that glaciers play a key role in providing the population with drinking water, and their preservation is an important task.

Regarding the interaction between the parliaments of the two countries, the chairman of the National Council said that Austria is ready to offer support in strengthening democratic institutions, exchanging experiences and developing inter-parliamentary cooperation, which will help strengthen ties between the countries.

President Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated Walter Rosenkranz on the successful holding of parliamentary elections and wished him great success in achieving all his goals as Chairman of the National Council of Austria.

Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is firmly committed to democratic values ​​and principles, consistently moving forward as a democratic and legal state. In addition, he noted the importance of expanding cooperation with Austria in various fields, including technology and innovation.

Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Austrian companies have extensive experience and use modern technologies taking into account international environmental standards, which makes cooperation with Austria a priority.

The head of state noted interest in further developing relations with Austria at the inter-parliamentary level, mentioning the successful first official visit of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev to Austria in May this year.
