Kyrgyz President instructs to continuously monitor implementation of investment projects

Bishkek, Jan. 14, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov received director of the Investments Promotion and Protection Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic Shumkarbek Adilbek uulu.

The president’s press service reported that the issues of improving the investment climate and the business sector, as well as the development of foreign trade were discussed.

Shumkarbek Adilbek uulu presented information on the activities of the Agency to attract investments to the country, the Agency’s development strategies and plans for the coming years. The director of the Agency also reported on the negative trends in attracting investments and the reasons for the decline in investment from the main partner countries.

The President paid special attention to the fact that some investment projects have not been implemented for a number of years. At the same time, he noted that the main problem in attracting investments into the country is the lack of ready-made investment projects for presentation to investors.

President Jeenbekov stressed that urgent, real measures are needed to improve the investment climate and remove barriers in doing business, and paid particular attention to issues related to the implementation of investment projects. As he stressed, the Agency should be the central government agency for the coordination and interaction of government agencies for attracting and protecting investments.

The President recalled that according to the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018–2040, the priority task of the state policy is to attract investments to the regions of the country in such key areas as agricultural products processing, industry, energy, tourism, and mining.

In addition, Jeenbekov noted that within the framework of the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization of the Country in order to increase the openness and transparency of the implementation of investment projects, special attention should be paid to the introduction of information and communication technologies.
