Kyrgyz President meets with CSTO Secretary General

Bishkek, Dec. 19, 2017 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov met today with Secretary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Yuri Khachaturov, the Kyrgyz President's press service reported.

The CSTO Secretary General briefed the Kyrgyz President about the plans of the Organization for 2018. The sides also exchanged views on the main directions of the CSTO activity.

Zheenbekov stressed with satisfaction the results of the jubilee session of the Collective Security Council of the Organization, which took place on November 30, 2017 in Minsk. "My first working trip was to Moscow, then to Minsk, where the jubilee session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held. I was glad that I met with all the heads of the Organization’s member states and discuss all the topical issues of cooperation. This trip was very useful," the president said.

The head of state said that Kyrgyzstan attaches special importance to the CSTO as a guarantor of security in the region and reaffirms its commitment to the development and strengthening of all-round interactions within the framework of the Organization.

In turn, Khachaturov congratulated Zheenbekov on his election to the post of president of Kyrgyzstan. "You won a confident victory in the elections, the elections went smoothly, which gives you more opportunities to conduct a firm policy of development of the state," the CSTO secretary general said. He also expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for constant attention to the activities of the Organization and efforts to strengthen its positions.
