Kyrgyz President: Online training was dictated by concern for health of citizens and children

Bishkek, Sept. 5, 2020 / Kabar /. "As soon as the opportunity arises, we will try to open schools and educational institutions to switch to the traditional form of education," President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov said.

In his regular interview to the state radio on Saturday President Jeenbekov said that the decision on online training in schools and educational institutions was dictated by concern for the health of citizens and children.

He noted that both the Government and the Ministry of Health are still sounding the alarm, warning that one should not complacent, as the situation remains tense, and some foreign countries are talking about the possibility of a second wave of the disease.

Jeenbekov noted that some countries announced that the disease has begun to spread among children. “In our country, schools and universities are still perceived as potential foci of infection. After all, a child is a child. They may not want, or forget, or not attach due importance to the observance of sanitary and hygienic rules. After all, teachers may not keep track of this. Between lessons, they rest, play, communicate. And such contacts can provoke massive infection both among children and among teachers. Therefore, the Republican headquarters analyzed the entire situation and came to such a decision. And I also supported it,” the head of state emphasized.

He added that the Ministry of Education proposed to observe the epidemiological situation in the country and teaching should be online for a while.

“We are also in favor of children learning in real mode. After all, children are our future, the future of our state, we understand this. They must receive a quality education. As soon as the opportunity arises, we will try to open schools and educational institutions to switch to the traditional form of education,” President Jeenbekov concluded.
