Bishkek, April 27, 2021 . / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov proposed to organize an additional extended discussion on various platforms of the draft law "On aspecialized administrative region in Issyk-Kul Oblast, including a tourist and entertainment complex," which provides for the resumption of gambling activities in certain areas of the country for citizens of foreign countries.
If the public is categorically opposes the initiative to resume gambling activities, President Sadyr Zhaparov is ready to exercise his constitutional right and veto the bill in case of its adoption by the Jogorku Kenesh, his press service said.
On April 21, Kyrgyz Parliament approved in the first reading the draft law on legalization of casinos.
According to the plan, several hotels and casinos are planned to be built on a plot of more than 1,000 hectares. The project assumes that gambling will be carried out only in this territory, and citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic will not be allowed to them.
Meanwhile, in an interview with the national KTRK channel President Zhaparov proposed opening casinos not only in Issyk-Kul Oblast, but also in Bishkek and in all regions of the republic.
Gambling business has been prohibited in Kyrgyzstan since 2012. Then the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted a law that completely prohibits gambling activities in the country.
