Kyrgyz President signs law on reducing electoral threshold

Bishkek, June 30, 2020. /Kabar/. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed Tuesday constitutional law "On Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Election of President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh", his press service reported.

The Law was adopted by the Kyrgyz Parliament on June 18, 2020, in order to reduce the electoral barrier for political parties to enter the Jogorku Kenesh from 9% to 7%.

For these purposes, parts 2 and 3 of Article 64 of the Constitutional Law "On Election of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh" have been amended accordingly.

The Law enters into force on the day of its official publication.
